New Jersey Epilepsy Task Force
Breaking news in epilepsy: Governor Chris Christie has just made his decision and appointed eleven individuals to the New Jersey Epilepsy Task Force:
Dr. Marcelo E. Lancman, the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group's Medical Director, is one of the epileptologists on the Task Force. We congratulate him on this honor and know that he will make important contributions in helping the task force reach its goals of developing recommendations for the public and professionals in the medical field as well as working towards improving social and psychological issues in epilepsy.
In 2010, Governor Chris Christie signed a bill to establish a statewide task force on epilepsy. The task force was formed to develop recommendations to educate the public and healthcare professionals about epilepsy and treatments as well as to address the psychosocial issues, such as depression, discrimination and stigmatization. The Act (S1928) was sponsored by Senator Fred Madden, Jr. (D-4) and Senator Diane Allen (R-7).
The Task Force will be made up of the Commissioners of Health and Senior Services and Human Services, two neurologists, a representative from the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey, two representatives from agencies who serve people with epilepsy, two members who have epilepsy and two expert members in the field of epilepsy.
