All year long, the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group promotes epilepsy education for patients, their caregivers, medical treatment staff, and the general public. Team Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group participates in several epilepsy walks and many different fundraising activities that directly benefit the national or local epilepsy foundations and advocacy societies. EPILEPSY: A nursing perspective - FREE CEU program for nurses

Program is offered in two sessions: MORNING and AFTERNOON

MORNING PROGRAM
7am - 8am: Registration and breakfast
8am - 11am: Lecture

EVENING PROGRAM
5pm - 6pm: Registration and dinner
6pm - 9pm: Lecture
A light breakfast and dinner will be served.

Dr. Olgica Laban-Grant, epileptologist at the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group will discuss following topics:
- Seizure terminology and classification
- Causes of seizures
- Epileptic syndromes
- Status epilepticus
- Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures
- Differential diagnosis of seizures
- Current treatment options
- Seizure first aid
- Epilepsy in women
- Epilepsy in the elderly
- Seizure action plans, seizure precautions, and social aspects of epilepsy

Special Topic:
Dr Stefanie Berry, M.D., pediatric epileptologist at the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group will discuss:
- Epilepsy in children
