Ongoing Research Projects
The Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group is currently conducting the following research projects in epilepsy. Contact us if you wish to participate and we will examine your case and let you know if you could be a candidate.
1. A Phase 2, Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Study of VX-765 in Subjects with Treatment-resistant Partial Seizures
2. Efficacy and safety of eslicarbazepine acetate (BIA 2-093) as adjunctive therapy for refractory partial seizures in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, multicentre clinical trial.
3. Double-Blind, Randomized Efficacy and Safety study of Pregabalin (Lyrica) as monotherapy in patients with partial Epilepsy $100 compensation per subject and Pfizer will also provide 6 months of subject\'s regular AED in case they do not do well on Lyrica monotherapy.
4. Epilepsy alert device – Epilert Performance. Principal Investigator: Georges Ghacibeh, M.D.
5. N01276/1306 - Double-Blind, Randomized, Parallel Group, Historical-Control Conversion to Monotherapy study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Brivaracetam in subjects (> 16 to75 y/o) with partial seizures. Principal Investigator: Jeffrey Politsky, M.D.
6. A Phase 3 Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Cross-Over Study of the Safety and Efficacy of Intranasal Midazolam in the Outpatient Treatment of Subjects with Seizure Clusters. Principal Investigator: Jeffrey Politsky, M.D.
7. An Open label, Randomized Study Prospectively Examining the Effect on Anxiety in Partial Epilepsy Patients Treated with Pregabalin. Principal Invesitgator: Evan Fertig, M.D.
8. Cognitive and behavioral effects of Lacosamide as adjunctive therapy in patients with partial epilepsy. Principal Investigator: Marcelo Lancman, M.D.
