Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group is granted three certifications as Level IV Centers in New Jersey and 1 in New York
The Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group based in Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) was the first Certified Level 4 Epilepsy Center in the state of New Jersey. Recently, the Atlantic Neuroscience Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and Saint Peter's University Hospital tow other Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group programs, were also recognized with the same distinction. In the state of New York, the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group program of White Plains Hospital Center received the same certification. This means that our program has been distinguished with four Certified Level 4 Epilepsy Centers which is a significant honor.
A Level IV designation is granted by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. A fourth level epilepsy center is required to provide the more complex forms of intensive neurodiagnostics monitoring, as well as more extensive medical, neuropsychological, and psychosocial treatment. Fourth-level centers also offer a complete evaluation for epilepsy surgery, including intracranial electrodes, and provide a broad range of surgical procedures for epilepsy.
