Feature article: The siblings of a child who has epilepsy: What do we know?

Often, the child who has epilepsy is not an only child. However, the unexpected, scary, and urgent nature of seizures can result in parents or caregivers giving proportionally more time and attention the child who is unwell than to others in the household.  It can be difficult to pay equal attention to all the kids when one child has a comparably greater need.  There are only so many hours in the day; parents may be juggling numerous responsibilities (in and out of the home) and as a result, it is not surprising that healthy siblings at times receive a bit less focus.

Our epilepsy star for this issue is adult epileptologist, Dr. Enrique Feoli. We sat down to ask him about his decision to become an epileptologist, his day-to-day life in this role and his research interests, and lastly, what he hopes to see in the future in the field of epilepsy care.
