Epilepsy Survey results: Test your knowledge: The cause of epilepsy is unknown how often?

For this issue's survey question, we asked our homepage visitors how often they thought the cause of epilepsy was unknown.

The 48 responses we received were very interesting!

The cause of epilepsy is unknown in:

- Half of all epilepsy cases: 29%
- Two thirds of all epilepsy cases: 35%
- Almost all epilepsy cases: 27%
- The cause is always identified: 8%

What is the answer:
The cause of epilepsy is unknown in about two thirds of epilepsy cases! Known causes in the other third, include tumors, strokes, infections, head trauma, oxygen deprivation, among others.
