Our epilepsy and seizures community of patients, family, friends and doctors has been busy!

We have certainly been busy during 2021 including giving webinars and participating in producing an important consensus statement on managing Sturge Weber Syndrome.  In addition, just a month ago, NEREG welcomed our newest pediatric neurologist and epileptologist (Dr. Jose Serruya) to our White Plains, NY office.  Click below to read all about these accomplishments.

a) In April 2021, The Epilepsy Services of New Jersey (a member of the Epilepsy Alliance of America) offered a half day virtual symposium on Medicinal Cannabis.  Dr. Firas Taha was invited to speak on Epilepsy and Medicinal Marijuana: What the Research Says (When and why to consider medicinal cannabis for your child with epilepsy)

b) Dr. Jose Serruya, pediatric neurologist and epileptologist, has joined the medical staff at the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group. Dr. Serruya completed his medical studies at the School of Medicine at the National University of Buenos Aires, in Argentina, in 1987. After moving to New York, he completed a Pediatric Neurology elective at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in 1992. He continued his neurological training in a Fellowship in Pediatric Neurology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and a second Fellowship in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology at the New York University Medical Center. Dr. Serruya has served neurology and epilepsy patients in Queens, New York, for more than twenty (20) years, specializing in autistic spectrum disorder, speech delay, learning disabilities, ADHD and pediatric epilepsy. We are delighted that is joining NEREG and will be offering his services to our existing and future patients. https://epilepsygroup.com/doctor146/doctors-ny/jose-serruya-md.htm

c) A very important publication just came out: "Consensus statement for the management and treatment of Sturge Weber Syndrome: Neurology, Neuroimaging, and ophthalmology Recommendations".
Dr. Eric Segal, Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group, Director of Pediatric Epilepsy is one of the co-authors.  You will find the publication here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S088789942100093X?dgcid=coauthor#!
