Sleep deprivation

Sleep deprivation

If sleep deprived long enough, it is very likely that a seizure will happen. Sleep deprivation is one of the most potent triggers for seizures. This is why it is very important to keep good sleep hygiene (habits and behaviors that promote healthy sleep). Each person knows how many hours need to sleep to fill refreshed. There is no a set of hours that each person needs to sleep (some need 6 hours, some need 10 hours). This factor is a very common one in adolescents since they usually are under time pressure to study for exams and may have intense social lives which all affect the amount of hours of sleep. As a recommendation, it is very important that if someone goes to sleep late, will have a chance to wake up late and sleep enough hours to feel refreshed the next day.
