Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy helps the person with epilepsy to navigate through their feelings about having epilepsy. Often there can be a sense of loss, due to loss of privileges like driving and possibly even working. People with epilepsy also often feel as though they are different now compared with their friends and family, which can initially be upsetting as well. Psychotherapy helps educate the person about their epilepsy and addresses all of the feelings that arise after being diagnosed. Further, mood issues related to the epilepsy itself, such as depressed or anxious mood, can also be addressed and helped through psychotherapy.
