Social Security Disability


As a person with a diagnosed disability, there are many benefits and entitlements that are available to you through Social Security:

• Children with a documented disability may receive Social Security benefits until they reach the age of 18.  In order to qualify, the child must have a disability that severely limits their activities, and must have lasted, or is expected to last, for at least one year.

• Adults with a documented disability may receive Social Security benefits after the age of 18.  In order to qualify, you must have a disability that prohibits you from any kind of work.  Your medical condition must have lasted for at least one year, be expected to last at least one year, or is expected to cause your death.
