Getting from Point A to Point B

• Traveling by Bus or Rail: If you are lucky enough to live in a metropolitan area, public transportation is usually easy to use.  And, many times, people with a disability can get a reduced fare card.  Just check with your local transportation company for details and applications.

• The Yellow Cab: Even in very rural areas, taxis are usually available.  And, if you are going to schedule regular trips with one company, many will offer a reduced fare for each trip.  Shop around for a cab company that will work with you.

• Is There Anything Free or Low Cost? Paratransit Systems are a great choice.
They are usually run by local or state governments, non-profit agencies, or private transportation companies.  Some offer free rides and others offer reduced or nominal fees per trip. Your state or county website will have details about a system close to you.  You can also call your town or village hall for the names of local paratransit companies.
