Brain Tumor


• There are many different kinds of tumors.

• Tumors are classified as benign (the ones that are not aggressive) and malignant (the ones that are aggressive and grow fast)

• How likely is it that a person who has a brain tumor will develop epilepsy?
Between 30 and 50% of patients with a brain tumor will develop seizures and epilepsy. 

• Some tumor types are more likely to be associated with seizures and epilepsy.

• What are the factors that will increase the chances of developing epilepsy?
  - The size (larger) 
  - Location
    * Cortex
    * Frontal and parietal lobe 
  - Type of tumor:
    * Melanoma
    * Metastases
    * DNETs, 
    * Gangligliomas
    * Gliobastoma multiforme
    * Meningiomas
    * Low grade astrocytoma
