EPILEPSY WALKS: In the second half of 2011 we raised $3,426 through our team of patients and doctors. The monies raised went to the Epilepsy Foundation of NJ and the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance.

EPILEPSY EDUCATION: From September to November, the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group organized 11 conferences, webinars and talks for patients and their loved ones that were given in Connecticut, and all over New York and New Jersey.
Drs. Lancman, Lambrakis, Laban, Politsky, Feoli, Berry, Ghacibeh, Fertig, Khashab, Trobliger, Bailey, and Myers, and Adrienne Arkontaky and Bernard Shapiro, Esqs. provided education throughout the tri state area on new epilepsy treatments, depression in epilepsy, SUDEP, autism and epilepsy, memory therapy and social security benefits for epilepsy. The Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut, Northeastern NY, Metropolitan NY, and New Jersey, the Epilepsy Society of Southern NY and Epilepsy Life Links educated the audiences on the many services and resources available to people with epilepsy.

EDUCATION FOR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS AND PROFESSIONAL MEETINGS: Our doctors taught courses on epilepsy to nurses, neurologists, neuropsychologists and psychologists in Latin America and to psychology students. They also presented 7 research papers at the 65th Annual American Epilepsy Society Meeting in Baltimore, MD.

WELNESS INITIATIVE: In November, our audience in the Manhattan epilepsy educational conference learned how to do safe mat pilates exercises and our Brooklyn epilepsy educational audience practiced an art therapy exercise. Both got rave reviews and we are now seeing about organizing these activities into programs for persons with epilepsy in 2012.
