Epilepsy Survey results: Once the COVID 19 pandemic is over, would you prefer to continue to see your healthcare professional through telemedicine (online or on the phone)?

Epilepsy Survey results: For this issue, because of the many changes brought about by Covid-19, we continued to wonder about how many of our website visitors plan to continue having their medical appointments through telemedicine instead of in-person office visits.

Our survey question was: Once the COVID 19 pandemic is over, would you prefer to continue to see your healthcare professional through telemedicine (online or on the phone)?

The numbers below show that 63% of our webpage visitors would prefer to continue seeing their health professionals through telemedicine in the future.  Most health insurance companies allowed for telemedicine to be utilized almost as soon as the pandemic forced much of society to lockdown and because social distancing was recommended. It looks like a majority of respondents would prefer that this modality continue to be available after the lockdown is lifted.  Some patients have mentioned that they find this way of seeing their doctor to be convenient (especially when they live far from the office or have trouble getting there due to driving restrictions).  Many doctors have learned that for certain cases and medical issues, telemedicine works fine and is comparable to an in-person visit.  So, let's hope that patients' and doctors' opinions are taken into consideration when insurance companies revisit their decisions regarding telemedicine.

Yes: 63%
No: 25%
Can't say because I did not use telemedicine: 13%
