Our epilepsy and seizures community of patients, family, friends and doctors has been busy!

Our epilepsy and seizures community including our patients, family, friends and doctors has been busy!  Online conferences on functional neurological disorders, the Glow Walk and Run for Epilepsy, and Epilepsy awareness month.

a) Epilepsy Awareness on the month of November, National Epilepsy Month: This day was celebrated all across the USA.  One of our epilepsy offices, handed out yummy purple chocolate brains to patients and family in honor of those living with epilepsy and seizures.  See pictures here: https://epilepsygroup.com/events_gallery_detail6-22-166/november-epilepsy-awareness-month.htm

b) Quite appropriately in recognition of National Epilepsy Month, Dr. Eric Segal presented on Epilepsy Management at an event hosted by the New Jersey Pediatric Neuroscience Institute on National Epilepsy month (November).  What a great way to raise epilepsy awareness! If you missed it, no worries.  You can watch the recorded lecture here on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/njpni/videos/1233425907167683/

c) October 23, 2021: Glow Walk and Run:  After an understandable break due to the Covid pandemic, the Glow Walk and Run made a comeback to New Jersey this year! Everyone in attendance as well as the volunteers and staff were thrilled to be back in-person walking, running, and sporting some very fun and creative costumes on that day.  The Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group was an official sponsor as always and had a cute booth that was well-stocked with informational materials as well as cute purple giveaways. Congratulations to the Epilepsy Services of New Jersey for having hosted this fantastic event! d) October 9-10, 2021: Annual psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES) conference: On these two days, the FND Hope foundation hosted a two-day virtual conference on PNES (also known as functional seizures). The conference brought together world-renowned speakers from across the US and abroad and a total of 400 registered audience members.  The first day aimed to primarily provide lectures for professionals and clinicians who work with PNES and the second day included a variety of break-out rooms for patients and loved ones. The conference organizer, Monica Park, who was the September 2021 Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group Seizure Star, really outdid herself with flawless organizing skills that resulted in an undeniably super successful conference. Congratulations, Monica, on a job superbly done!!

e) December 3: American Epilepsy Society (AES) Annual Conference. This year, to the joy of epileptologists all over the USA (and overseas), the American Epilepsy Society held its annual conference in-person in Chicago, IL.  Several of our doctors traveled to the meeting in order to attend Special Interest Groups, Committees, and lectures and to share their research through scientific posters.
