Despite the summer months being meant for rest and relaxation, our epilepsy and seizures community has been busy. Dr. Lorna Myers of the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group and her colleague, Dr. Julia Doss, published a book for clinicians working with their first patient/s diagnosed with psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES). Also, several of our doctors spent their time giving lectures and educating the general public on epilepsy and psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES).

July 14: Dr. Lorna Myers of the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group presented at a virtual conference hosted in the country of Chile. Her topic was Psychotherapeutic approaches for PNES and PTSD (Abordajes psicoterapeúticos y estrés post-traumático en CNEP and was presented at the Functional Neurological Disorders Virtual Meeting of Facultad de Medicina Clinica Alemana Universidad del Desarrollo, Chile
July 17: Dr. Robert Trobliger, the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group’s pediatric and adult neuropsychologist presented the same topic again (“Neuropsychological Services: What they are and how they can help with home and school”) for the New Jersey Department of Labor - Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
July 28: Doss J and Myers L published The Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures Pocketbook (also known as Conversion disorder with seizures, Dissociative seizures, Functional seizures, Functional dissociative seizures, Nonepileptic attack disorder) through Kindle! It took over a year of work but now it is officially published and available on the following websites: Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
