Our epilepsy and seizures community of patients, family, friends and doctors have been on the move since the new year started!

Our epilepsy and seizures community of patients, family, friends and doctors have been on the move since the new year started! We celebrated International Epilepsy Day in February. Additionally, congratulations to Dr. Robert Trobliger and his co-authors for their most recent publication in the scientific journal, Epilepsy and Behavior!

Congratulations to Drs. Robert Trobliger, Lenka Kramska, Selim Benbadis, and graduate student, Talia Simpson, and high school student, Kaleb Lancman for their most recent publication in the Epilepsy and Behavior journal. The article is titled: Characteristics of patients diagnosed with psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) who request reinstatement of their driving privileges (2025). This retrospective study examined predictors of driving resumption in over 400 subjects who were diagnosed with PNES. In particular, less depression at the time of diagnosis (which was also associated with better fine motor speed and dexterity) was associated with patients’ subsequent reporting seizure-freedom and requesting that driving privileges be resumed.

February 10: International Epilepsy Day. This day is a joint initiative of the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) and the International League against Epilepsy (ILAE) celebrated across the globe in the 120 countries in which IBE and ILAE are represented. The International Epilepsy Day is the most prestigious epilepsy event in the world.  Let's use this day to raise awareness about epilepsy!
This is a day for everyone, no matter where you are in all of the USA or the world, no matter whether it is just you or a whole group of you. We want you to help us celebrate and highlight the difficulties faced by those who live with epilepsy on International Epilepsy Day! Let's speak with one global voice.  Remember that PURPLE is the official awareness color of epilepsy--you can wear purple clothes, hair extensions, nail polish, deck your home, car, or office in purple.  Swing by our offices to celebrate the day with your doctors and all the staff.  https://internationalepilepsyday.org/
