Our epilepsy and seizure community of patients, family, friends and doctors have been on the move this spring! Our doctors have been out in the community educating the general public and school nurses, and attended the American Epilepsy Society Annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Also, Dr. Lorna Myers, presented in two international conferences and the epilepsy community came together on September for our virtual epilepsy book club, on October 19 to WALK FOR THE ONE and in November raising awareness all monthlong for epilepsy.

Specialized Epilepsy Centers and Providers: What Patients and Families Should Know

What makes a Level 3 or 4 Epilepsy Center different and why does it matter? Dr. Olga Alexeeva, epileptologist at the Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group, gave an in-depth look at the specialized training of epilepsy providers, what families can expect from advanced centers, and how to access important resources. 

This session is designed for both families and professionals seeking a clearer understanding of comprehensive epilepsy care.

Dr. Alexeeva is board-certified in neurology and neurophysiology, with clinical interests in traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus, and informatics.

The Epilepsy Book club read a new book that was selected by the book club members: Mighty Mike bounces back: A boy’s life with epilepsy.

Dr. Lorna Myers lectured on psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES) and "Outcome of a randomized controlled treatment trial for patients dually diagnosed with psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)" at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

November:
